Body of Water

Loch Tay

Description

Another one of those long Scottish lochs that are great to visit. Campsites nearby and some wild camping opportunities outside of the town. The loch is about 15 miles long, but you can actually keep going up the River Lochay (northern fork) for a bit too. You do come to a rocky fast flowing section at the bridge of Lochay but you can portage from the golf club and rejoin further up stream. I'd honestly just stick with Tay though, it's massive enough already! The islands before you meet the Lochay would probably make good camp spots.

Car park next to the beach launch point.

Launching Information

There is a jetty/pier, but it's often occupied so probably easier to beach launch here. And the beach is closer to the car park.

Paddling Information

Just remember its a massive expanse of water so you're going to be vulnerable to the elements. But other than that, paddle anywhere! Would recommend landing at the Loch Tay caravan/lodge park as the slipway and jetty are both decent and you can go to the boathouse cafe for scran and coffee.
